Why have a CPA? After all, why should you get paid to do something that is already yours? I would argue that it’s not because of the lack of value or benefits of the action, but instead the lack of value and benefits that most people want or are expecting from their actions.
Let’s begin with the assumption that a CPA is an easy way to make money.
Why would anyone want to pay you for something that they can do for free and still be successful? People spend so much time working, not only in their careers but in their personal lives. And, the average person wants and expects (gives!) that success “to happen” from somewhere.
Why have a CPA? Because it gives them what they want and need in order to get there: the ability to buy more products and services, the opportunity to make more money, and the necessary incentives for them to spend more time on their businesses, and get more out of them.
So, if having a CPA makes so much sense, why do we see so many people going without? The reasons are many, but the answer is usually this: people think they can’t have it…and end up not getting it.
It’s a bit like saying you can’t have ice cream because it’s too expensive. Of course, you don’t have to enjoy it, and you can eat all you want – but that doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy it as much as you do now.
Why have a CPA? Because we are human and we want to feel successful.
In fact, what a CPA is really doing for you is that it creates an atmosphere where success is a given. Now you don’t have to work very hard to achieve success, or even pay attention to it. You are literally giving it to yourself and you are doing it every day with everything you do, including having lunch with your friends, or writing your book, or driving your children to school, or making dinner, or going for a walk…
You can live your life exactly the way you want it to be, because now you don’t have to sweat the small stuff. Now you are living in the presence of success and you are living in the present moment – where you want to be.
Why have a CPA? Because now you will be able to help others achieve success as well.
What do you get when you go into business with a CPA? A strong network, a wonderful community of people who are interested in what you do, people who will be with you through thick and thin, who want what you have. That, my friend, is priceless.
